General Program Information:
| |
U10 Boys teams and U10 Girls teams play 6 v 6 with a dedicated goalkeeper Referees are introduced at this age. As this is a mentor program as much for the young referees as it is for the players on the field learning the game, Parents and Coaches - please be kind. If you have feedback on a referee, good or bad - send it our way. Accolades put referees in a draw for prizes. Concerns are forwarded to our DRA who works with referees year round to help them improve. Help us keep these refs in the system. Please - no negative comments during a game. Put them in writing to us instead. If we all work together, these young refs will continue to improve with experience and training to become an asset for all programs. Thanks in advance for doing your part! |
| Teams play games on a full indoor field. Each team needs a minimum of 1 volunteer coach and 1 assistant coach or co-coach, plus a volunteer bench mom or dad if one of the coaches is not the same gender as the team. |
| Time slots are 55 minutes long. Teams play 2 x 25 minute halves with a brief half time. The last 5 minutes of each hour between time slots at Servus Place is for transition of teams coming on and teams leaving the field. |
| Parents not volunteering, will only be able to enjoy the games from the upstairs stands as only registered team officials and players are allowed on the field or in the hallways. |
| |
Volunteer Coaches are always needed at this level It's fun and rewarding, and a great way to get involved! A pre-season meeting with hands-on training will be held where you will receive a manual and information on how to set up and run drills and fun games for the whole season. SASA also provides in-house support from our Head Coach and an end of season rebate certificate which can be used towards future registrations. |
| |
A Criminal Records Check is required for all coaches Please pick up your volunteer letter of introduction for the RCMP or EPS when you sign up at registration. |
| |
Active Start Soccer Fest takes place Feb 24, 2013 We are pleased this year to also have the support of Shell for this event. Teams begin with a scheduled league game followed up with scheduled time at the Jumpy Things and Face Painting stations. Treats and medals are provided to all players at this event. One volunteer from each team will be required to make this event a success (bags & distributes team goodies). |
| |
Coach Appreciation Social - tentatively set for Servus Place, March 9, 2013 The evening begins with a drop in soccer game for coaches followed by a social upstairs in the restaurant/lounge. Snacks, drinks, and prizes provided! |
| |
Tournaments Entering in tournaments is at the discretion of each team. There are a number of local tournaments to choose from, including the Family Day Classic hosted by SASA at Servus Place which draws a number of travel teams from other cities providing an excellent source of new competition. If you decide to enter a tournament this season - it is imperative you register early. Many of the local tournaments fill up with a wait list already in effect before Christmas. Visit the ASA Website for a full list of sanctioned tournaments in Alberta. Unfortunately we cannot reschedule league games as there are no additional timeslots available at Servus Place. Please be considerate and notify your oposition if you are not planning to make it for a league game. |
