Win Tickets to U20 Canada vs Argentina
See the Canadian U20 mens team prepare for the upcoming U20 World Cup in the new BMO Stadium in downtown Toronto.  Live action of the U20 friendly against Argentina is on on Friday, May 11 at 8pm.  How to win tickets: The first 6 members to correctly email JFK naming a South American team that Canada will be playing in the first round of the U20 World Cup in July, will receive a pair of tickets.  Congratulations to Fadil and friends for winning the tickets.

Our goal is to have no team win every game and no team lose every game as we did this winter season.
On-going Player Evaluations
We have been conducting pre-season evaluations.
We have over 2,000 members and will be evaluating about half of them in one form or another.  The evaluations help us to rate the players so we can determine the proper placement for the player.  Is the player best suited for the All-Star House League or the Recreational House League.  We further use our evaluation results to divide the teams up fairly and equally in strength.

Win Tickets to Toronto FC
Toronto FC is hosting the "BMO Field Warm Up Event" on Wednesday, April 25.  This is an exclusive event and tickets are not for sale.  Be one of the first to sit in the new BMO Stadium.  Watch Toronto FC take on Kansas City Wizards live on the big screen at 8:00pm.  As an added bonus, you can sample BMO Field's fine cuisine, compliments of JFK, BMO and TFC.  How to win tickets: The first 6 members to correctly email JFK with the name of the TFC's head coach, shall receive a pair of tickets.  Ticket Winners: Lesley, Larisa, Krishna, Paul, Jay, Grace.

Over 200 Teams this Summer
Due to the high number of registrations we are still having, we have many more teams to accommodate the demand.  Divisions that were full may now have some limited availability (just for a short while), so register today if you haven't already.  This is the largest increase we have ever had.

Uniforms are in Town
As we get closer to the start of the outdoor season, the preparation of uniform & ball sorting, scheduling and team forming has begun.

Another Summer Camp Week Added
The first 2 weeks of Camp JFK are almost full, so JFK has added another week at the Port Union location.  Only $125 per week.

The outdoor season starts in May
If you have already registered, log on to the Members Area and follow the link "What's next".  Members will be emailed around May 1 to confirm the registration (no other confirmation is sent).  Mid to late May, your coach will phone you to set up your first practice.  Your uniform, schedule, ball, etc., will be given out by your coach at your first practice.  In May, JFK will have a shin guard sale and soccer shoe exchange/sale at the JFK Warehouse (details to follow in May).  Official tax receipts will be mailed later in the year.  Enjoy your JFK soccer experience.

  Busy with Registration
Registration on April 7 & 14 was very busy again at the JFK Warehouse.  Next in person registration is on April 21 & 28.  Register on line 24/7 or by phone during regular business hours to avoid line ups.  Mailed in registrations are not guaranteed availability.

Over 3,000 Players
JFK grows to over 3,000 players in 2007.  Add in coaches, volunteers, referees, etc. from each season and we're almost 4,000 members strong.

Toronto FC Opening Home Game

Toronto FC's first ever home game at the new BMO Stadium.  It was a great game to watch live at the stadium.  Even though TFC lost the game 1-0, the fans were supporting and treated to an exciting game of soccer.  Professional soccer is back in T.O. to stay.  Everyone should see a game.  JFK will be awarding tickets to various members throughout the season through draws, contests and prizes.

So you had a bad day Craig Forrest
Even the great Canadian goalkeeper Craig Forrest, who went one and a half years without having a goal scored against him, can have a bad day (or two), especially when you have to play against the great Manchester United.
See video here.

Standings and Statistics - Games Played

Some info on how the stats are tracked: "Games Played" is not actually tracked by JFK.  What happens is, when a goal is recorded for a player, the system automatically tallies a "Games Played".  So if a player never scores but plays every game, the system will probably show 0 "Games Played" unless the coach edits the "Games Played" section on line.  When the player scores and the goal(s) are enter for that game, the system knows the player must have played and adds 1 to the "Games Played".  So ignore the "Games Played" column.

Standings and Statistics - Team Goals vs Player Goals
After a game, the coach enters the score of the game on line in the Members Area.  When JFK gets the game sheets from the referees (maybe 2-10 days later on average), JFK updates who scored and makes corrections if necessary to the scores.  So if the coach put they won today 5-2, it may not yet be recorded who scored those 7 goals until JFK updates the scorers, so the total goals for the team won't add up to the total goals for the players of that team yet.

Standings and Statistics - Divisions Tracked
All divisions except U5 have standings.  No pressure to score or win is put on these very young players.  Recreational and All-Star divisions have standings and player statistics.  The Recreational standings and stats are for entertainment purposes only.  It partly helps the Club to identify some of the rising stars within the Club for possible advancement to All-Star.  To help reduce pressure of what is generally the beginners division, no importance is put on the standings, no play-offs are played.  Every player receives the same trophy regardless of team standings.  MVP's are recognized for their abilities.  The All-Star divisions have league champions (1st place teams) and play-offs, so the level of competition among the players and teams are greater.

How's your Ball Juggling
Can you juggle a ball? JFK is looking to make a team with it's best freestylers to do demonstrations and shows. Send us an email to tell us about yours skills if you'd like to join this team. It's a great part time job.
