Columbus BlueJackets, CYHA Panthers, Elyria, Fremont, Gilmour,
                              Harborcreek, Ohio Flames, Youngstown.

Absent Board Members: Betty Ann Maulorico

Motion to approve minutes of Sept 13 meeting made by John Stojak. Second by Jim Revak. All in favor, motion passed.

Joe Walkush – power point presentation of variables that are used to calculate RPI. Demonstrates how data is reviewed, teams to watch. Teams who placed themselves in an incorrect initial position should attempt to reschedule with more competitive teams to get better data for final ranking. RPI is on website except for Peewees, not enough data yet. One more week should solidify rankings better at Peewee.

If a team feels that the competition in their remaining preseason games will not help indicate where their team should eventually be ranked, they are encouraged to schedule an additional game or two against more appropriate opponents. If a team is short on ice they may attempt to switch opponents for a game if all teams agree. The Board will waive game change fees in this instance.

Team Placement Appeal Procedure: criteria was distributed.

Rules – Mitch Green – comments on Bantam games with 14 minute periods, problems with getting games in on time. Hard to get Peewee games done in an hour with 13 minute periods. Rinks not allotting hour and a half for Bantam games, trying to do it in an hour. Sometimes games take longer because players get tired, games get chippy, penalties are called, more stoppages of clock. Usually occurs on teams with fewer number of players playing two games in one day. Also players are not in condition this early in season. Refs doing a good job keeping games moving. Programs reminded to have 75 minute ice slots for Bantam games. Barry – refs ok with longer periods at Bantam, received increase to compensate. Smaller increase at Peewee merely caught up for long time in between rate increases, equates to no increase at Peewees for extra minute per period. Board will decide on length of periods of Peewee and Bantam games for regular season based on this feedback from programs and referees.

Mentoring process working well. Not always evident during games because instruction goes on after game. One more ref clinic scheduled. SportsWeekend/Matt Rice still owes local referees nearly $5000.00; he has been bringing in referees from Michigan to do his games since local refs will no accept anymore assignments. He requested help from Barry in covering some games; Barry said no CSHL refs will work his games until past due fees are paid and there is a signed contract in place regarding future assignments.

Select League. Up and running. Looking for 2 more players at Squirt, Peewee, help out numbers, in case one or two players cannot participate during the season. Question raised is message clear that regular program league commitments take precedence over Select League games. Strongsville and Parma have had conflicting information being received by parents, players playing on both Strongsville and Select teams, stating some Select games, tournaments come first before League games. Shaker and Canton-Akron have Select players and have experienced no problems in this area. Sometimes players choose to attend a Select game rather than regular program practice. As long as coaches are aware beforehand, they are ok with this. Select teams and Strongsville teams are planning to attend Silver Sticks and State Tournaments; dual rostered players will have to choose which team to play for during these tournaments.

Tim O’Shaughnessy requested programs send him their program logos via email, he will add to the website program contact information page.

Motion to adjourn made by Dee Trobentor. Seconded by Don Lewis. Meeting adjourned 8:20 pm.
